Indymac Mortgage Services now known as OneWest Bank Mortgage Servicing is a division of CIT Bank, N.A. Many of the larger mortgage servicers participate in the Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternative Program which was rolled out by the Obama Administration. One of the most appealing benefits of this program to homeowners is the now $10,000 relocation incentive for eligible candidates and a waived deficiency balance. The other week we encountered that OneWest Bank Mortgage does offer an in-house special incentive for certain notes and we recently saw $15,000 go to a borrower for relocation. This follows suite with how Bank Of America and Chase offered incentives up to $30,000 for certain in-house loans. The important thing to know about these programs is that they are extremely special programs and most people do not qualify and if a borrower was eligible they likely were solicited directly from the bank for such a program.
